The strategy was adopted in November 2017 and is the result of an intensive discussion and development process involving all major stakeholders in the field of competence validation.
This strategy paper is aimed at the (educational) policy level and at validation practitioners in Austria. It provides the basis for the further development and implementation of the validation strategy, taking into account sectoral and institutional framework conditions as well as legally recognised responsibilities and competences.
The work on the measures mentioned in the paper will be carried out by four thematic working groups in the period 2017-2019, and the results of the thematic working groups are to be available by the end of 2018 and implemented from 2019 onwards. The development and implementation of the validation strategy is carried out in close coordination with the ‘Strategy for Lifelong Learning in Austria’ and the ‘Federal Act on the National Qualifications Framework in Austria’.
3s (Karin Luomi-Messerer) was involved in the development of the strategy and has carried out the following projects:
- Survey on validation initiatives and measures in the field of vocational training with reference to NQF levels 4-7;
- Scientific monitoring of the consultation process on the validation strategy.
