    Apprenticeship in India: Country Strategy

    Innovation Bootcamp

    Organiser: International Labour Organization (ILO), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE)
    The MSDE and the ILO are jointly orga­ni­zing an Innovation Bootcamp on ‘APPRENTICESHIP IN INDIA: COUNTRY STRATEGY’ to discuss the strategy for Apprenticeship in the country in light of the ADULT research process and optimize system deve­lo­p­ment alignment to the main national strategic documents and on-going processes. The event will allow experts from govern­ment, industry and social partners struc­tures to discuss and craft a way forward for app­ren­ti­ce­ship system deve­lo­p­ment in South Africa.
    The Innovation Bootcamp will also bring together a team of global and national experts to consider the findings of the ADULT global research and their relevance in the context of India. The event will reflect on the key findings and recom­men­da­ti­ons that have emerged from the foregoing global research on Apprenticeship and Life-long learning under the Global component of ADULT project, espe­ci­al­ly those which can lead to the opti­mizati­on of the app­ren­ti­ce­ship system deve­lo­p­ment process in India.
    Jörg Markowitsch will give a pre­sen­ta­ti­on on „Adapting app­ren­ti­ce­ships for res­kil­ling and ups­kil­ling of adults, findings from an ILO research project” on day 2 of the event.

    Topics:

    • How do we understand the role of VET in preparing young people for work when labour markets and workplaces are in flux nationally and internationally?
    • Is this changing the nature of VET and VET curricula? Is it raising new questions on work, labour markets and education? What is core to VET that is stable across different contexts?
    • Are systems looking more similar or more different from each other?
    • What are the main factors—such as workplace organisation, changing labour markets, changing enrolment in schools and universities, and the nature of economies that are influencing different aspects of VET provision—such as curriculum, governance, partnerships, enrollment patterns—in different countries?
    • How do we connect better as researchers, and use VET research to build connection?

    • Notification of acceptance: 15 December 2026
    • Submission of full paper: 20 February 2027
    • Feedback to your paper: 31 March 2027. You will then have 10 days to make the necessaries changes.
