The Lifelong Learning Platform (LLLP), in coope­ra­ti­on with Springer’s International Handbook of Lifelong Learning, launched a new series of webinars to present cutting-edge research on lifelong learning to an inte­re­sted audience. In a compact format, indi­vi­du­al research findings and critical reflec­tions on burning issues, such as the ecology of lifelong-lifewide learning for sus­tainable gene­ra­ti­ve futures or learning for climate justice will be presented and discussed in the focus of social/political and the economic.

This pre­sen­ta­ti­on will discuss the inter­sec­tion of learning at work and orga­nizatio­nal learning and reveal important impli­ca­ti­ons for con­ti­nuous inno­va­ti­on research. The dis­cus­sion will explore how recent deve­lo­p­ments in Industry 4.0 and twenty-first-century com­pe­ten­ces have led to trans­for­ma­ti­ons in both the pace of change in knowledge and the types of new skills and knowledge that are required for indi­vi­du­als to remain com­pe­ti­ti­ve and inno­va­ti­ve in the workplace. This will further lead to the pro­mi­nence of tacit knowledge and informal learning as a mode of learning in the workplace. The pre­sen­ta­ti­on will focus on tacit knowledge and con­ti­nuous inno­va­ti­on in orga­nizati­ons – namely, orga­nizati­on knowledge creation, com­mu­ni­ties of practice, and employee-driven inno­va­ti­on (EDI).
