Vocational Excellence for a Green Europe

Welcome to “Vocational Excellence for a Green Europe,” an innovative conference designed to delve into the pivotal role of Vocational Education and Training (VET) in fostering green innovation and sustainable practices.

Organiser: Green Tech Valley and GREENOVET

Have you ever considered how VET can equip individuals with the essential skills needed in green innovation and sustainable practices? How does VET inspire innovation and provide the necessary tools for individuals to contribute to a sustainable future through entrepreneurial endeavors? Beyond the classroom, we’ll explore the central role of VET in instilling a culture of sustainability. How does it contribute to the European Green Deal? Collaboration with industries is a key aspect of VET. How does this collaboration ensure that VET programs align with the demands of the growing green economy, preparing individuals for meaningful contributions in their respective fields? How does it keep individuals updated on the latest developments in green technologies throughout their careers? This conference is part of the GREENOVET project, an international project in the frame of ERASMUS+ KA3 with 18 project partners from 4 European countries that supports the development of Vocational Education and Training (VET) excellence in the field of green innovation across Europe. This conference promises to be a cornerstone event for professionals and enthusiasts alike who are committed to shaping a sustainable future. There are no conference fees. Registration

The Making of Apprenticeships

Divergence, Experience, and the Transformation of Vocational Education & Training

Dietmar Frommberger & Christoph Porcher

The conference explores the making and remaking of apprenticeships as a global historical phenomenon, tracing how pre-industrial craft training evolved under industrialisation, state-building, and changing educational ideas. It focuses both on institutional change and on the lived experiences of apprentices, masters, and other actors, and invites contributions from all periods and world regions.

Learning Across Continents: Conversations in a divided world

VETNET

Topics:

  • How do we understand the role of VET in preparing young people for work when labour markets and workplaces are in flux nationally and internationally?
  • Is this changing the nature of VET and VET curricula? Is it raising new questions on work, labour markets and education? What is core to VET that is stable across different contexts?
  • Are systems looking more similar or more different from each other?
  • What are the main factors—such as workplace organisation, changing labour markets, changing enrolment in schools and universities, and the nature of economies that are influencing different aspects of VET provision—such as curriculum, governance, partnerships, enrollment patterns—in different countries?
  • How do we connect better as researchers, and use VET research to build connection?
