WERA Task Force Global Research in Extended Education Conference 2027

Veranstalter: World Education Research Association

The conference invites researchers and advanced graduate students worldwide to submit papers, posters, and symposia related to extended education. It focuses on diversity, equality, and inclusion within extended educational contexts such as after-school programmes, extracurricular activities, and community-based learning. It aims to explore how these settings can support children’s learning, development, participation, and social cohesion, particularly in increasingly diverse societies.
The concept of “superdiversity”, discussed by Steven Vertovec, provides an important theoretical perspective for examining social diversity and educational practices.

The Call for Participation (CfP) is seeking submissions on educational equity, inclusion and diversity in the context of extended education. The focus is on effective approaches to equal opportunities, gender-sensitive pedagogy and anti-discrimination with reference to the above mentioned educational settings. In addition, strategies for youth participation, for professionalising teams in diversity competence in these educational settings and interdisciplinary approaches to tackling school absenteeism will be addresses, with a view to sustainably strengthening participation and social cohesion.

Key topics also include the role of funds of knowledge in supporting children’s participation in extended education, the development of inclusive structures in extended education, civic education, collaboration between extended education, schools and families, multilingual learning environments in extended education, partnerships with NGOs, and the ways in which social inequalities are produced or transformed in contexts of extended education.

Submissions must include an abstract of up to 400 word ins English.
The submission period runs from 7th September 2026 to 15th January 2027.

The future of VET

Cornerstone for competitiveness and inclusive growth

Cedefop

The virtual conference will provide an opportunity for policy-makers, stakeholders, experts and researchers to discuss the findings of the research project on VET excellence and inclusion.
Its aim will be to deepen Cedefop’s understanding of the challenges facing European vocational education and training (VET) in the coming decades. Discussions will focus on how the concepts of excellence and inclusion are understood, addressed and operationalised at a national level. The conference will examine the characteristics of VET at higher levels and how (as well as whether and in which form) they underpin excellence but also how they deal with inclusion. It further complements the ongoing political discussion on the future of European VET.

Erwachsenenbildung braucht Demokratie, Demokratie braucht Erwachsenenbildung

Ö-Cert-Enquete 2026

Partnerschaft Schule – Eltern – Erwachsenenbildung

Modernising VET policies and systems for the green and digital economy

21st Cedefop Brussels Seminar

Cedefop; Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU

The 21st Cedefop Brussels Seminar brings together representatives from European and Member States policymakers, vocational education and training (VET) experts and social partners to discuss how countries are adapting VET to changing skills needs and supporting the green and digital transitions. Participants will explore the skills needed for the green transition and how to integrate them into learning and training. The construction sector will provide a practical example of these skills challenges, while showing how cooperation with employers can help ensure that training responds to changing needs. The seminar will also consider how VET systems are responding to the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI). Participants will examine the digital skills needed by students and teachers, approaches to integrating AI into VET programmes, and its role in supporting teaching and learning.
