    The importance of LLL for vocational training: Never enough!?

    IBW, IHS, L&R, öibf and WIFO invite you to the fifth Vocational Training Jour Fixe event on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, on the topic ‘The importance of lifelong learning for voca­tio­nal training: Never enough!?’.

    Based on the latest PIAAC data, key findings on the importance of learning in working life will be presented, and the need for action arising from the declining reading skills of older workers and the tension between ups­kil­ling and downs­kil­ling will be discussed. The event will also examine the role that informal learning processes play in skills deve­lo­p­ment in relation to struc­tu­red in-company con­ti­nuing pro­fes­sio­nal development.

    Embracing Diversity in Vocational Education and Training (VET)

    Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the Nordic countries is shaped by strong welfare traditions, close relationships between education and working life, and longstanding ambitions of equality, inclusion and high‑quality education for all. Nevertheless, Nordic VET systems display substantial variation and complexity, influenced by social, demographic, pedagogical and structural differences across countries, regions, institutions and vocational fields. The 2027 NORDYRK conference Embracing Diversity in VET invites researchers, practitioners and policymakers to explore how such diversity shapes the conditions, opportunities and challenges of VET.   The Call for abstracts opens on November 11, 2026 and closes on January 31, 2027. Registration is required.
