EVBB Annual Conference

The EU VET Strategy: From Policy to Practice

Veranstalter: European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training - EVBB

As work on the VET Strategy moves forward, the EVBB Annual Conference 2026 will bring together VET leaders, policymakers, project practitioners and institutional partners in Paris to explore what the strategy means for the future of vocational education and training across Europe.

Under the theme Europe’s VET Strategy in Action, the three-day conference will provide a platform for policy discussions, knowledge exchange and cooperation, connecting European priorities with the experiences and needs of VET institutions and organisations.

The programme will feature interactive Implementation Labs, where participants can contribute to shaping practical outcomes, alongside a study visit to a Parisian VET institution and networking opportunities designed to encourage new partnerships and future projects.

By bringing together stakeholders from across Europe, the conference aims to strengthen cooperation within the VET community and explore how emerging European policy priorities can translate into action at institutional and national levels.

WERA Task Force Global Research in Extended Education Conference 2027

World Education Research Association

The conference invites researchers and advanced graduate students worldwide to submit papers, posters, and symposia related to extended education. It focuses on diversity, equality, and inclusion within extended educational contexts such as after-school programmes, extracurricular activities, and community-based learning. It aims to explore how these settings can support children’s learning, development, participation, and social cohesion, particularly in increasingly diverse societies. The concept of “superdiversity”, discussed by Steven Vertovec, provides an important theoretical perspective for examining social diversity and educational practices. The Call for Participation (CfP) is seeking submissions on educational equity, inclusion and diversity in the context of extended education. The focus is on effective approaches to equal opportunities, gender-sensitive pedagogy and anti-discrimination with reference to the above mentioned educational settings. In addition, strategies for youth participation, for professionalising teams in diversity competence in these educational settings and interdisciplinary approaches to tackling school absenteeism will be addresses, with a view to sustainably strengthening participation and social cohesion. Key topics also include the role of funds of knowledge in supporting children’s participation in extended education, the development of inclusive structures in extended education, civic education, collaboration between extended education, schools and families, multilingual learning environments in extended education, partnerships with NGOs, and the ways in which social inequalities are produced or transformed in contexts of extended education. Submissions must include an abstract of up to 400 word ins English. The submission period runs from 7th September 2026 to 15th January 2027.

The Making of Apprenticeships

Divergence, Experience, and the Transformation of Vocational Education & Training

Dietmar Frommberger & Christoph Porcher

7th Crossing Boundaries Conference

Learning Across Continents: Conversations in a divided world

VETNET

Topics:

  • How do we understand the role of VET in preparing young people for work when labour markets and workplaces are in flux nationally and internationally?
  • Is this changing the nature of VET and VET curricula? Is it raising new questions on work, labour markets and education? What is core to VET that is stable across different contexts?
  • Are systems looking more similar or more different from each other?
  • What are the main factors—such as workplace organisation, changing labour markets, changing enrolment in schools and universities, and the nature of economies that are influencing different aspects of VET provision—such as curriculum, governance, partnerships, enrollment patterns—in different countries?
  • How do we connect better as researchers, and use VET research to build connection?

Embracing Diversity in Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Umeå University

Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the Nordic countries is shaped by strong welfare traditions, close relationships between education and working life, and longstanding ambitions of equality, inclusion and high‑quality education for all. Nevertheless, Nordic VET systems display substantial variation and complexity, influenced by social, demographic, pedagogical and structural differences across countries, regions, institutions and vocational fields. The 2027 NORDYRK conference Embracing Diversity in VET invites researchers, practitioners and policymakers to explore how such diversity shapes the conditions, opportunities and challenges of VET.   The Call for abstracts opens on November 11, 2026 and closes on January 31, 2027. Registration is required.
