Romania Hosts First EQAVET Peer Review of 2025

Peer experts examined Romania’s new mechanism for monitoring and evaluating IVET policies, including the innovative ReConect data platform.

The first EQAVET peer review of 2025 took place online on 19–20 March and focused on Romania’s mechanism for the evaluation and monitoring of public policies in initial vocational education and training (IVET). Hosted by the Romanian National Centre for TVET Development, the event brought together nine peer reviewers from EQAVET Network members in Belgium-fr, Finland, Lithuania, Serbia and Slovakia. Monika Auzinger served as moderator for the two-day review, guiding discussions and facilitating the exchange of expert perspectives.

At the heart of the peer review was Romania’s recently launched ReConect platform, which integrates national education and labour market databases. For the first time, this allows for comprehensive insights into learner trajectories — from enrolment through graduation and into their early career or further education paths.

The review enabled a deep dive into the platform’s data collection process, the selection of indicators, and the overall effectiveness of the mechanism. Participants also discussed how to increase stakeholder response rates and explored best practices for linking data analysis to meaningful policy development.
