EQAVET Peer Review in Germany

The second EQAVET peer review meeting took place in June at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) in Bonn. Topic: Quality assurance and qualification of in-company trainers in Germany.

The importance of in-company training staff is growing in view of the ever faster development of knowledge and innovation as well as the current transformation issues (digitalization, demographics, heterogeneity and sustainability) in the dual VET system, in the economy and in society.

For this reason, the topic of quality assurance and qualification of in-company training personnel was a central focus of the second German EQAVET Peer Review, organised by the German Reference Point for Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training (DEQA-VET). Eight experts from five European countries (Greece, Austria, Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic) took part in this peer review meeting to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the current qualification approach together with additional experts. The EQAVET peer review also provided an opportunity to reflect on how the qualification of company-based training personnel could be improved in light of current and future challenges. Karin Luomi-Messerer supported this peer review meeting as a member of the EQAVET Secretariat.
