    From Learning to Living — Co-creating education quality across European regions

    Final Conference of the European research project CLEAR

    The Final Conference presents project’s results and features a Keynote by Prof. Gert Biesta (University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom) and a European Roundtable with expert inputs by Prof. Nafsika Alexiadou (Umeå University, Sweden), Prof. Tanja Sturm (University of Hamburg, Germany) and Prof. Justin J. W. Powell (University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg) that aim at dis­cus­sing the policy impli­ca­ti­ons of the project’s findings.

    The Conference takes place at the Fundação Cidade de Lisboa, Campo Grande 380, 1700-097 Lisbon, Portugal on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 10:00 to 17:30 (UTC). The con­fe­rence language is English.

    Conference Theme & Research Context

    What are edu­ca­tio­nal achie­ve­ments? What insti­tu­tio­nal, struc­tu­ral, indi­vi­du­al, or spatial factors decide on edu­ca­tio­nal success? And how do they interact in the process of cons­truc­ting learning outcomes? CLEAR’s Final Conference addresses issues that young people face during their life courses. Since low achie­ve­ments, mainly reported among groups in multi-dis­ad­van­ta­ged positions, have a massive impact on life quality and prospects of learners, we examine how inter­sec­tion­al factors and issues of Spatial Justice interact at local/regional levels to produce different learning outcomes. Our analyses are also informed by the results of par­ti­ci­pa­to­ry actions that have provided us with expert knowledge of national/regional poli­cy­ma­kers and local prac­ti­tio­ners and helped us to develop a more holistic and reflexive approach to education.

    The CLEAR Research Project

    The European research project Constructing Learning Outcomes in Europe: a multi-level analysis of (under)achievement in the life course (CLEAR) is conducted with 13 partners in eight EU-member countries—Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain. Designed as a multi-level, mixed-method study with trans­ver­sal par­ti­ci­pa­to­ry elements, it seeks to examine the com­bi­na­ti­on of multiple factors that shape learning outcomes and affect their quality.

    Der Lehrstellenmarkt befindet sich im Wandel. Veränderte Berufswünsche Jugendlicher, neue Anforderungen an Betriebe sowie die Rolle von Organisationen der Arbeitswelt (OdA) und Kantonen prägen die aktuelle Entwicklung. Die EHB-OBS-Tagung 2026 bietet eine fundierte Einordnung, warum Passung im Lehrstellenmarkt zur Herausforderung wird. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Präsentation des neuen Trendberichts des Schweizerischen Observatoriums für die Berufsbildung OBS EHB, der zentrale Entwicklungen des Lehrstellenmarkts auf den Ebenen Nachfrage, Angebot und Steuerung beleuchtet. Ergänzt wird die Präsentation durch eine Podiumsdiskussion mit Vertreter:innen der Berufsbildungspraxis, -politik und -forschung. Ziel ist ein gemeinsames Verständnis und der Austausch praxisnaher Ansätze.

    The future of VET

    Cornerstone for competitiveness and inclusive growth

    The virtual conference will provide an opportunity for policy-makers, stakeholders, experts and researchers to discuss the findings of the research project on VET excellence and inclusion.
    Its aim will be to deepen Cedefop’s understanding of the challenges facing European vocational education and training (VET) in the coming decades. Discussions will focus on how the concepts of excellence and inclusion are understood, addressed and operationalised at a national level. The conference will examine the characteristics of VET at higher levels and how (as well as whether and in which form) they underpin excellence but also how they deal with inclusion. It further complements the ongoing political discussion on the future of European VET.

    Euroguidance Fachtagung 2026

    Inclusive Guidance und Union of Skills: Neue Perspektiven für die Bildungs- und Berufsberatung

    Arbeitsmärkte wandeln sich rasant. Unsicherheit, psychische Belastung und Entscheidungsdruck nehmen zu. Klassische Beratungsansätze stoßen an ihre Grenzen. Umso wichtiger wird die Rolle der Bildungs- und Berufsberatung: Sie gibt Orientierung, stärkt Selbstwirksamkeit und motiviert Menschen, ihren Weg zu finden.

    Im Rahmen der „European Union of Skills" stellt sich die Frage: Welche Kompetenzen brauchen Beratungsfachkräfte, um Menschen mit unterschiedlichen Bedürfnissen wirksam zu begleiten? Welche zukunftsorientierten Fähigkeiten helfen Ratsuchenden, sich auf einem dynamischen Arbeitsmarkt zurechtzufinden und neue Chancen zu nutzen?

    Die Euroguidance Fachtagung 2026 widmet sich genau diesen Fragen – aus europäischer und nationaler Perspektive. Beiträge aus Forschung, Politik und Praxis geben Einblicke in aktuelle Entwicklungen und zeigen konkrete Ansätze für die Weiterentwicklung der Beratung.

    Am Nachmittag vertiefen fünf parallele Workshops zentrale Themen der Beratungspraxis. Der „Methodenmarkt" und der „Erasmus+ Corner" bieten Raum, um innovative Projekte kennenzulernen, Erfahrungen auszutauschen und neue Impulse für die eigene Arbeit mitzunehmen.

    RWL International Advisory Committee

    The Researching Work & Learning (RWL) International Conference Series is the world's longest, continuously running international research conference series serving the field of workplace learning. It was initiated in 1999 by researchers at the University of Leeds (UK). As of 2026 it has visited eleven countries in five continents. The conference series as a whole is organized through the work of the RWL International Advisory Committee. This committee is composed of leading international scholars in the diverse field of workplace learning.
