Future fit education systems

A recently published UNIDO IAP article by Jörg Markowitsch and Günter Hefler provides insights into Europe's diverse educational landscape and implications for the future. What should future fit education systems look like?

While there is a global policy emphasis on the res­kil­ling of adults, the education of young people remains the backbone of a country’s skills deve­lo­p­ment. Vocational education helps learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and com­pe­ten­ci­es specific to a par­ti­cu­lar (or type of) occu­pa­ti­on or trade. In Europe, distinc­ti­ve edu­ca­tio­nal tra­di­ti­ons, including VET, have evolved over time, resulting in a rich variety of approa­ches to skills deve­lo­p­ment. But the question arises — do these trends provide a blueprint for the future?
