PIAAC Expert Report with New Insights on Adult Competences

On 5 December, the PIAAC expert report was presented at a Statistik Austria conference. Günter Hefler and Eva Steinheimer contributed key insights on workplace learning.

On 5 December, Statistik Austria hosted a conference dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the new PIAAC expert report based on the 2022/23 survey round. The event brought together researchers, policymakers and practitioners to reflect on the results for Austria, while also situating them within an international comparative context.

3s is represented in the expert volume with two contributions by Günter Hefler and Eva Steinheimer. At the conference, the two authors presented their analysis on workplace learning, highlighting the links between job quality, learning opportunities at work and the maintenance and development of adult competences.

The two contributions included in the volume are:

  • Workplace learning, job quality and literacy competences: examining how changes in workplace quality relate to the development and preservation of skills in international comparison.
  • Do we have the right provision? PIAAC findings on opportunity structures for adult learning among adults with low literacy skills.

All contributions to the PIAAC expert report are available online.
