In focus: validation in Europe and beyond

Several recent publications demonstrate the broad 3s expertise in the field of validation: the update of the European Validation Inventory and an ETF thematic report.

The updates of the European Inventory on validation of non-formal and informal learning have recently been published online. The inventory of validation practices and agreements across Europe has been regularly updated since 2014 and is now available in the 2023 version. In addition to the reports on the EU and EFTA countries, a current overview report, thematic reports and case studies are also available. The European Inventory on Validation is maintained by the European Commission in cooperation with Cedefop (European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training) and ETF (European Training Foundation). The update was prepared by a project consortium of ICF and 3s (Karin Luomi-Messerer, Monika Auzinger, Julia Fellinger, Mariya Dzhengozova, Daniel Unterweger) in cooperation with additional country experts.

An ETF thematic report on the status quo of ‘Validation of non-formal and informal learning in the EU neighbouring countries and Central Asia’ was also recently published. The report was prepared by 3s (Monika Auzinger, Mariya Dzhengozova, Julia Fellinger) and presents the results of studies from 16 countries conducted in 2021–2023 on the progress of establishing validation systems, the challenges and successful practices in these countries.
