EXPECT — Sustainable vocational education and training in Austria

The participants of the Erasmus+ project EXPECT - Exchanges of Practices in Education for Climate Targets met this time in Vienna to shed light on the topic of sustainable VET in Austria.

On 12 and 13 January 2023, the seventh PLA (Peer Learning Activity) took place within the EXPECT project, which examines and compares the state of sustainable VET and examples of good practice in seven European countries (NL, AT, IT, ES, LV, FL, UK). The PLA in Vienna took place at the HTL Spengergasse in Vienna’s fifth district, which as an “ÖKOLOG school” is committed to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and implements numerous measures both in the classroom and in everyday school life. The 6th EXPECT newsletter reports, among other things, on the Austrian ÖKOLOG network, different sustainable activities at Austrian vocational schools and on another Erasmus+ project on “Green Skills in Vocational Education and Training” called GREENOVET. A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Head of Education Management Apprentices ÖBB, who reported on the sustainability strategies within ÖBB as well as in apprenticeship training. After an introduction to the activities of the HTL Spengergasse and a guided tour of the school, some students also had their say with their sustainability projects.
