Transforming European Women’s Entrepreneurship

The Women Entrepreneurs project was a 4‑year research, innovation and staff exchange programme in the Horizon 2020 framework of the European Union which started in 2015.

The project aimed to strengthen international and inter-sectoral collaboration in the research field of entrepreneurial competence development. It allows a better understanding of the fundamental entrepreneurial competences of early stage women entrepreneurs and  developed an educational and training programme to enhance the ratio of young successful women entrepreneurs across Europe and their performance potential through adult learning.

The project was organised in three main phases: First, set-up of a survey to identify different competence gaps of early stage women entrepreneurs. Second, based on the survey results, an education and training programme was developed. The programme aimed to enable early stage women entrepreneurs to develop entrepreneurial competences and to increase their entrepreneurial success. This programme was evaluated in the third and last phase.

The project was coordinated by the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena (Germany). Partners besides 3s were the Universidad de Desarollo in Santiago (Chile), the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla (Colombia), the Fundación Imaginario Comunicación para la Paz y el Cambio Social in Bogotá (Colombia), and the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol (Cyprus).

3s was involved in the project’s research and dissemination activities and participated in staff exchanges. 3s researchers participated in research and dissemination activities at Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago de Chile and the Friedrich-Schiller University Jena in Germany. In 2016 colleagues from Cyprus, Germany and Chile worked at 3s facilities in Vienna.
