Quality assurance for more inclusive VET in Slovenia
How can quality assurance contribute to more inclusive vocational education and training? This question was at the centre of a Peer Review on the role of quality assurance in advancing inclusive upper secondary VET in Slovenia, organised in May 2026.
The Peer Review focused on how Slovenia’s national monitoring and evaluation methodology could be further developed to better capture inclusiveness in upper secondary VET. Peers discussed, in particular, the formulation and use of relevant indicators, the need for a shared understanding of inclusiveness across stakeholders, and ways to integrate existing mechanisms, measures and services for inclusive education more effectively into the national monitoring framework.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of systematic data collection and use, including clearer objectives, a combination of quantitative and qualitative indicators, and approaches to monitoring vulnerable groups through anonymised and indirect data. The peer reviewers provided the host country with feedback and ideas to support the further development of quality assurance for inclusive VET.
Karin Luomi-Messerer (3s) contributed to the Peer Review as expert and moderator as part of the support services on quality assurance in VET provided to the European Commission.
