Cedefop’s virtual workshop on learning outcomes in VET

On May 24 2024, there is the possibility to discuss interim findings from our current Cedefop project on learning outcomes.

The event is scheduled under the same name as the research project: The shift to learning outcomes; rhetoric or reality?. The discussions will centre on the impact of learning outcomes on pedagogical theory and methods, as well as the impact of outcomes-based curricula on teaching practices in VET (particularly school-based programmes as well as in work-based-learning settings). Our research shows that, while the learning outcomes approach is fast gaining traction across Europe, the variety of interpretations and applications necessitates further discourse and experience sharing.  The approach may be well known to some scholars and policymakers, but awareness among teachers, trainers, and learners is especially important in this context; the key question is whether the approach’s core principle is recognised and perceived as relevant to their everyday work.

3s team members will take on an active role in the event. Mariya Dzhengozova will present a Bulgarian case study in the breakout session on “The influence of learning outcomes-based curricula in company training (as part of apprenticeship programmes)”. Karin-Luomi-Messerer will give a presentation in the session on “The influence of learning outcomes on assessment” where Monika Auzinger takes the role of a rapporteur.
